ABPM (Ambulatory BP Monitoring)Wearing an automatic blood pressure cuff for 24 hours. It takes many readings during the day and while you sleep, then your doctor reviews the averages. It is the reference standard for measuring blood pressure.
24-Hour BP MonitorAnother name for ABPM. The cuff and a small recorder stay on for a full day and night, so your doctor sees how your blood pressure behaves in real life, not just in the office.
Out-of-Office MonitoringAny blood pressure reading taken outside the clinic. This includes ABPM and home monitoring. Out-of-office numbers predict heart and stroke risk better than a single office reading.
